Një tërmet i fuqishëm prej 7.2 ballësh ka goditur një ditë më parë Haitin, duke shkaktuar të paktën 304 viktima dhe mijëra të plagosur.

Në mediat e huaja janë publikuar pamje nga tërmeti shkatërrues, mes të cilave dhe një moment prekës kur dy fëmijë nxirren nga rrënojat dhe përqafohen me babain e tyre.
